Founder and French/Spanish facilitator

Angela Luke

I am an enthusiastic linguist who loves getting others to speak in French and Spanish. I have taught these languages up to A level for over twenty years, and am a published author and an examiner for a national exam board.

After developing the innovative speed-dating technique ten years ago, I have never looked back... the conversation groups are really fun!

Having lived in both France and Spain, I know the countries very well in terms of geography, customs and culture and love going back to visit.

I grew up with a fascination with languages as my grandfather was Gibraltarian and would often say a few words in Spanish to me.

Whilst studying Spanish and French at university, I took a job as a tour guide in Europe and ended up spending a summer in Lake Garda after I was told "you speak Spanish and French, you'll soon pick up Italian"! Good job I took the job because nearly all my subsequent jobs on leaving University required me to speak Italian!

I have a particular interest in regional accents and love trying to guess the Spanish region someone comes from.

French facilitator

Sabine Brajoux

A French native with a degree in English and Spanish from Toulouse University, I have always been passionate about languages, and that's why I moved to Brighton 13 years ago. I have been a language tutor for several years in France and England.

Learning and speaking foreign languages is a real journey that opens up new perspectives and amazing possibilities.

I really enjoy facilitating LivelyLanguages' sessions. Angela’s method is fun and efficient and allows you to gain confidence and fluency thanks to the idiomatic expressions.

French/German facilitator

Ray Vogt

Speaking various languages has been part of me as far as I can remember! I was brought up bilingually in the US and Germany and then went on to study French and Spanish at Heidelberg University.

My professional life has revolved around languages, first as a translator in Germany, then as a French & German teacher and A Level examiner and for many years as Head of Languages at a sixth form college. I travel frequently to France, Spain and Germany and am an active member of Petersfield Town Twinning Association.

I enjoy the Lively Languages method which combines a nice structure to learning whilst maintaining a flexible, vibrant approach to speaking.
